Deep Base

Floor Levelling Compound

Setcrete Deep Base is a base compound designed for use where floor levels need to be raised quickly and economically in light to heavy-duty applications onto sound absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors.

It is ideal in areas such as conservatories or where two adjacent rooms need to be brought up to the same level, such as in extensions or where an internal wall has been removed.

It is important that the correct procedures are followed when using all Setcrete products. The Technical Datasheets can be downloaded from the links below giving comprehensive usage instructions. For a practical demonstration of this product in use, please watch the video below.

Previous Declarations of Performance can be found here.

What is the maximum depth that Setcrete Deep Base can be laid? The product can laid between 5 and 50mm deep.?
Do I need to do anything else before I install a floorcovering?Depending on the type of floorcovering you are going to install a further floor levelling compound may be required. This would be important, for example, if you are to install a vinyl floorcovering where any imperfections might show through after installation. This would be less important if you were installing ceramic tiles.
How can I estimate the amount of Setcrete I require?Firstly assess the amount by which you need to raise the floor level. Now check the coverage rate on the Setcrete datasheet. You will then be able to estimate the number of bags you require. Alternatively, please use our handy Coverage Calculator located on the right hand side of your screen.
Can Deep Base be mixed by hand?We recommend that the product is mixed for a minimum of two minutes using a mixing paddle and a suitable drill.
Can Deep Base be used externally?Deep Base is for internal applications only.
Can Deep Base be used over underfloor heating?Deep Base is suitable for use over both wired and wet under floor heating systems. Electric heating must not be turned on for at least 7 days after installation.
Can Deep Base be used over wooden floors? For wooden floors we would recommend that the floor is first boarded with a minimum of 6mm flooring grade plywood, screwed down at 150mm centres and also screwed down at 100mm spacing around the board edges. The plywood should then be primed with dilute Setcrete Acrylic Primer (4 parts water to 1 part Primer) and Setcrete High Performance applied.
Can Deep Base be installed without a DPM?It is important to ensure that there is an effective damp proof membrane in place prior to installation. Waterproof Surface Membranes (WSM’s), such as Setcrete Rapid Set DPM, are available to create an impervious layer if there is no existing DPM in place. Once a WSM is used, Setcrete Deep Base can then be applied.
Do I need to prime Deep Base?Yes, priming prevents the unacceptable rapid drying of floor levelling compounds over absorbent subfloors and promotes adhesion to non-absorbent surfaces.
Can Deep Base be used over quarry tiles where no DPM exists? It is important to ensure that there is an effective damp proof membrane in place prior to installation. Waterproof Surface Membranes (WSM’s), such as Setcrete Rapid Set DPM, are available to create an impervious layer if no existing DPM is in place.
Can you mix SBR with Deep Base? No, Deep Base is designed as a one part water mix floor levelling compound the addition of any material such as an SBR could dramatically decrease the products performance and lead to a product failure.
Can you mix SBR with Universal? No, Universal is designed as a one part water mix floor levelling compound the addition of any material such as an SBR could dramatically decrease the products performance and lead to a product failure
Can it be used over underfloor heating?Yes Setcrete Rapid Set Wood Flooring Adhesive is suitable for use over underfloor heating systems.
